[January 15, 2009]  PACIFIC, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri man faces charges for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to beat his daughter. KMOV-TV in St. Louis reported that police said the man came up with the plan because he was upset that his daughter would not let him see his granddaughter.

The hitman allegedly solicited by the father was actually an undercover officer. Police said the father provided a map of his daughter's house and three pictures so he could identify the woman in a crowd. The father was arrested.

Detectives said the father did not want his daughter killed, just beaten.

Police said the father was charged with assaulting his daughter four years ago, which is why she refused to allow him to have access to the granddaughter.

A relative declined comment.
