To the editor:
We have an opportunity in the Feb. 24 Republican
primary election to select a candidate for mayor of Lincoln who has
a great educational and work experience background that will serve
the city of Lincoln very well in future years. Keith Snyder is an
outstanding candidate and can provide us with outstanding leadership
starting May 1, 2009.
I feel like I know Keith Snyder well since he was on
the Board of Education in District 27 when I served as
superintendent. He was a board member for eight years during that
time. Keith has great "people skills" and is an excellent
communicator, which are vital attributes while serving as mayor of
our city. He has the ability to talk with others, with an
understanding of the problems and challenges that face the city now
and in the future. He will be a real asset when meeting with
business people and developers who are considering Lincoln as a site
for their future projects.
Keith's educational background in political studies
at the University of Illinois and his experience as a staff member
for the Illinois state Senate Republicans and budget analyst for the
Senate Appropriations Committee will provide an invaluable knowledge
when he guides the city into the difficulties and uncertainties of
the budget processes in the near future. In addition, his political
ties with his Springfield colleagues could work to his advantage as
Lincoln seeks both state and federal funds for future infrastructure
and equipment needs. When with State Farm Insurance Cos. in
Bloomington, Keith served as a procurement specialist, negotiating
contracts for goods and services as well as serving on review teams
that analyzed companywide spending and negotiated national
contracts.

This young man can get things done in an acceptable
and timely manner as mayor of our community. Please join me in
selecting Keith Snyder as our Republican candidate for mayor in the
Feb. 24 primary. He has what it takes to be the mayor of Lincoln for
the next four years and beyond. Let's not miss out on our chance to
elect a truly qualified mayor for our city.
