[June 10, 2009]  Oasis potluck and bingo

Join us at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, for our Father's Day potluck, featuring hamburgers and hot dogs, special dishes, salads, and wonderful desserts. There is no charge for food or beverage provided at this event. If you do not bring a dish to pass and wish to make a donation, the suggested amount for the month of June is a $1. We will have entertainment and our monthly lunch drawing. Stay for bingo, sponsored by Christian Village.

The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays, except holidays, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center also is open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director.

Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership. Friends of The Oasis members receive a bimonthly newsletter by mail and reduced rates for classes and trips. For more information, call 732-6132 or 732-5844.

June birthdays

Birthday time! June birthdays will be observed at the senior center on Monday, June 15, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday's lunch

The 11:30 a.m. lunch for June 16 will feature barbecued pork sandwich, macaroni salad, chips and dessert. The suggested donation is $3.75, or, if you stay to play cards, the suggested cost is $3.25. The reservation deadline is noon Monday, June 15.

Foot care

Foot care appointments for the month of June and July will be with Emma Van Dyke, R.N. Please call The Oasis, 732-6132, for times available.

Card winners

The winners for weekday pinochle were Ann Hedricks and Larry Van Bibber. The weekend pinochle winners were Marjorie Reiners and Eleanor Barton. The five-in-one winner was Betty Burger.
