[June 10, 2009]  (AP)  Showers and thunderstorms were expected Wednesday from the central and southern Plains through the Tennessee and Ohio valleys.

Severe thunderstorms were likely from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas eastward into Ohio and Tennessee valleys, with damaging winds, hail and isolated tornadoes.

Showers and thunderstorms were also expected over parts of the Pacific Northwest, Intermountain West and Rockies.

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms were on tap for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Farther south, afternoon and evening thunderstorms were possible over parts of Florida as sea breeze picked up.

Below to much below normal temperatures in the 60s were expected over parts of the Midwest and Rockies, mainly to the north of the stationary front. Much warmer weather was anticipated across the South.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of 26 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 99 degrees at Alice, Texas.
