Well, Mom and Dad, have you heard, "I'm bored
and there is nothing to do"? Lincoln Park District has an
"Awesome Summer of Fun" still on the horizon. Following are
a few of the great offerings we have.
|
Join us on the driving range for our ninth annual Summer Golf
Camp. Save Monday-Friday, June 22-26. Lessons are determined by
ages. We welcome Doug Dean as our instructor this year. The one-week
camp consists of four days of instruction and ends with a fun-filled
nine-hole round of golf on Friday at Four Willows Golf Course in
Mason City. The primary focus of the camp will be on the components
of the golf swing: grip, stance, posture, form and tempo. And
finally, no lesson would be complete without some of the basics on
rules, philosophy and etiquette. Lights. Camera. Action. Perhaps a
little dramatic for us, but aspiring actors and actresses are
invited join us for Creative Drama Camp. The week will be
filled with improvisation, theater games and warm-ups as well as
arts, crafts and rehearsing for a performance starring you! Chris
Gray, theater director for Lincoln College, will lead you to center
stage. Bring your sack lunch, your swimsuit and a towel. Family and
friends are invited on Friday to see the participants' production.
Creative Drama Camp begins Monday, June 22, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.,
and is for 6- to 12-year-olds. Our second drama camp, called
Putting on a Play, will begin July 13. Registrations for both
camps are still being accepted!

Bicycle safety is very important. Save Saturday, June 27, 11
a.m.-1 p.m., for our Bicycle Rodeo. The Lincoln Police
Department is partnering with the Lincoln Park District, Logan
County Paramedic Association and State Farm Insurance, Rich Hamm
Agency in providing a bicycle safety program. We'll be near the
driving range and the event will feature a free picnic lunch
for the participants, using the Lincoln Police Department's wiener
wagon. Bicycles will be inspected for safety, and cyclists will
learn how to safely operate their bicycles. Traffic laws relating to
the operation of a bicycle on public streets will be covered as
well. We'll challenge your riding skills on our course outlined on
the grass.
Look for our annual Heritage Days "Let Freedom Ring" walking
parade on July 4. We encourage you to preregister at the Lincoln
Park District. This has proven to be a lot of fun in the past. Crank
up your red, white and blue creativity and decorate your bicycle,
wagon or scooters. There will be judging, prizes and lots of
patriotic fun!
