At the height of the storm, 72 mph wind gusts were clocked in
Lincoln, bringing down trees and limbs, which also brought down
power lines and poles. Debris blocked streets, and power was knocked
out over most of Lincoln. Some areas, including east of Union
Street, remained without power into early afternoon. There are some
patchy areas with no power. Traffic lights were reported out at
Logan and Broadway, near downtown.
Streets affected by debris and power lines include North Madison,
North Kankakee, Wyatt and Home Avenue, various locations along Fifth
Street and Woodlawn Road, Mill and Fifth, and at Postville.
Two fires from power lines were reported. The first was a power
pole in front of the Hartsburg Fire Station. Later, trees caught
fire from a downed line on Community Drive.
Communications were also affected. Cell phone, cable and Internet
services were all disrupted. Repairs are under way, with some
service restored.
The street department was called out early to clear trees blocking
roadways and to put up barricades where needed. Extra emergency
response personnel were also called out.

Standing water was left in the usual areas where flash flooding
occurs. Drivers should exercise caution and watch for flooded
streets and power lines.
The National Weather Service is forecasting the possibility of
more storms through Saturday. This afternoon through this evening
there is the possibility of additional severe lightning and
thunderstorms that could be accompanied by large hail and strong
winds.
