Storms were to develop early in the day around Iowa and Minnesota, spreading southeastward into the early afternoon hours. Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin were to have the greatest potential for damaging weather during the day, while Ohio Illinois and Indiana would see the worst weather come evening and overnight.
Elsewhere in the East, skies were to clear a bit along the coast and into New England. But by nightfall, storms were to approach from west.
In the West, isolated thunderstorms were continue across the southern Rockies and into the
southwestern Plains. The Great Basin would also see a few showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 33 degrees at Monarch Pass, Colo., to a high of 104 degrees at Palm Springs, Calif.
