[March 19, 2010]  (AP)  Severe weather was expected in the Upper Midwest and Tennessee River Valley again on Tuesday, as part of a cold front stretching into the central Plains.

Storms with hail, strong winds and heavy rain were possible over the Tennessee and Ohio valleys.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms were expected across the Dakotas and Minnesota throughout the day, along with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

Extremely hot and humid conditions were to stay settled on the South. A heat advisory was in place for the central Plains, mid- and lower Mississippi Valley, with highs reaching the 100s.

The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states were to see more comfortable conditions with highs in the 70s and 80s.

In the West, scattered high-level showers and thunderstorms were forecast over the Southwest, while warm and dry weather was expected for the coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a low of 28 degrees at Bryce Canyon, Utah, to a high of 105 degrees at Phoenix, Ariz.
