Zion
Lutheran seventh- and eighth-grade students participated in the American
Legion Auxiliary Unit 263 Americanism essay contest. The theme
of the essays was “Where Are the American Heroes of Today?”
Participation in the contest taught students about the ideals of
Americanism, patriotism and good citizenship. The top four
students received monetary prizes from the auxiliary. Top
finishers were Megan Opperman, first; Kendall Katz, second; Karli
Cox, third; and Brent Hunsley, fourth. Megan’s essay will be entered in the
district competition.
