[March 13, 2009]  (AP)  Turbulent weather was to continue in the Southeast on Friday, while the East and West were to be warm and dry.

A few thunderstorms were expected to develop in southeastern Texas and portions of Louisiana, adding more precipitation to the region that has already seen some substantial rain this week. Flooding was a possibility, especially where rivers are already high. Rain as well as frozen precipitation was to continue in the Appalachian Mountains.

The same storm system was to bring precipitation to the Rockies. Colorado was expecting see snow in the higher elevations, with a mix of snow and rain in the high Plains.

North of the Appalachians, high pressure was to dominate the weather in the East, keeping clear skies and cool temperatures in place. High pressure was to also strengthen in the West as a ridge in the jet stream over the eastern Pacific builds. This ridge will result in clear skies and warming temperatures throughout the West.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Thursday ranged from a low of minus 32 degrees at Longville, Minn., to a high of 86 degrees at Tallahassee, Fla.
