Sandburg came out and mixed up their defenses and created a lot of
problems for the Lynx, then settled into a 1-3-1 zone for the rest
of the first half. "Our inability to be aggressive on the
defensive end carried over to the offensive end," said Lincoln
College coach Kirk Whiteman. "We were way too passive the entire
first half, and I am just glad we were only down 40-31 at halftime."
The Lynx came out in a full-court press in the second half and
were much more aggressive. Lincoln also went with four guards in the
lineup, which helped.
"We played so much harder on defense in the second half, and that
helped create some easy transition baskets and led to a more
aggressive half-court offense," Whiteman said.
Kenyon Smith had 28 points and 16 rebounds, Chris Ware had 18
points, and seven other Lynx scored baskets.
Lincoln moves to 4-1, Sandburg drops to 2-3.
Lincoln will host Rend Lake on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
