[October 08, 2009]  Jason Harris of Armington, brother of Christopher Harris, was charged late Thursday afternoon with five counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in the slaying of the Raymond Gee family.

On Oct. 1, Christopher Harris was arrested on the same charges in a case that has shocked the community, not only because of the nature of the crimes but also because of those allegedly involved.

Jason Harris was denied bond and had a preliminary hearing date of Oct. 13 set by Judge Thomas M. Harris.

Attorney Steve Skelton of Bloomington has been temporarily appointed as his public defender.

Jason Harris' girlfriend, Jennifer Earnest of Armington, was charged with one count of obstructing justice. Her bond was set at $50,000.

Lincoln attorney Jim Grimaldi was appointed to represent Earnest. Grimaldi said he would not comment on the case at this time.

Logan County State's Attorney Michael McIntosh has asked the Illinois attorney general's office to assist with the prosecution of this case. He said that all further inquiries regarding the court proceedings in this matter should be directed to the Illinois attorney general's press office at 312-814-3118.
