Your
opinion would be appreciated. The committee formed to look into
replacing the old soldier Civil War monument that was destroyed in a
storm last December is seeking the opinion of the community. In an
advisory capacity, residents are encouraged to let the committee
know what they think the new statue should be made from: stone or
bronze.
|
To make this as easy as possible for
our readers, we have set up a special e-mail address. All you have
to do is go to
poll@lincolndailynews.com and in the subject area type in either
stone or bronze. Only one vote per computer address
will be counted.
Lincoln Community High School guidance department will have
their annual College and Career Night on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Students and parents from LCHS are invited to attend, along with
students and parents from Greenview, Hartsburg-Emden, Illini
Central, Olympia, Mount Pulaski and Williamsville. The night will
begin at 6:30 with a brief presentation on college planning and
financial aid. Freshman and sophomore students and parents and
students will meet in Room 203 and junior and senior students and
parents in the IMC. Both presentations end at 7 p.m.
In addition to the presentations, over 40 colleges, trade schools
and armed services will be represented in the cafeteria. The college
fair will run from 6:30 until 8 p.m. All students and parents are
encouraged to attend.
Learn the basics of floral design at the Lincoln Park District.
Instructor Crystal Tibbs will teach you how to design and
arrange flowers. Many of you will remember Crystal for her years of
running Flowers by Tibbs and Weddings by Crystal. She'll share over
36 years of design experience. Using baskets, vases and wreaths,
this make-and-take class will teach you the how-to.
Nearly all basic supplies will be provided. Participants may want
to bring their own specific container, and Crystal will help them
make their arrangements. Classes will be two Saturdays, Oct. 17 and
24, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the Craft Room.
The park district has been so
pleased with the response to their membership incentive
during September that they are extending it through October. So
"Fall into Fitness" with the Lincoln Park District. If you are
joining the Sports Center anytime before Oct. 31, you can earn extra
membership time for free. If you join for three months, the park
district will add an extra week. If you join for one year, the
district will add an extra month. For example, if your membership
doesn't expire until Nov. 30, just renew and the park district will
add the extra time to the end of that. Nonmembers as well as current
members can take advantage of this special offer.
