University president to be featured speaker at LCU Strauss

Lincoln Christian University
will host guest speaker Dr. David Dockery, president of Union
University in Jackson, Tenn., on Tuesday and Wednesday at the annual
Strauss Lectureship, titled "The Idea of the Christian University."

The Tuesday morning presentation, entitled "Exploring the Christian
Intellectual
Tradition," starts at 9:30 in the Earl C Hargrove Chapel.
Immediately following the morning presentation, Dockery will conduct
a book signing in the university bookstore. Tuesday evening at 7 in
Restoration Hall, Room R49, he will speak on "Importance of Building
a Learning Community as a Place of Belonging." He will complete his
lecture series on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Earl C Hargrove
Chapel with "The Christian University: Context for Developing Global
Awareness."

David S. Dockery was elected president of Union University in
1995. Prior to joining Union, Dockery served as chief academic
officer at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. During his tenure,
Union University has seen a strong increase in commitment to
excellence in teaching and scholarship.
