[October 17, 2009]  SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- Police said a man accused of stealing a woman's wallet was tracked down by his alleged victim after he made his getaway on a bus and later tried to fill out a job application.

Springfield Capt. Lee Bennett said Thursday that Demot Weaver robbed the woman as she was pulling out money for the fare at a bus stop.

Bennett said the woman ran to get her boyfriend, and the two followed the bus in the boyfriend's car.

Police said the pair followed the 25-year-old Weaver to a restaurant, where he was applying for a job. When Weaver saw the woman, he ran away but was arrested by police.

Weaver pleaded not guilty to unarmed robbery Friday in Springfield District Court. It is unclear if Weaver has an attorney.
