Sixth Annual Service of Remembrance

Lincoln Christian Church will host the Sixth Annual Service of Remembrance
on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary at 204
North McLean Street. The purpose in providing this yearly gathering is
threefold: to celebrate God’s gift of life and to worship Him for it; to
honor the lives of loved ones who have died, particularly during the past
year; and to provide a corporate opportunity for loved ones to process,
express and heal from their grief. A special part of the service will be
a time when each person who has died will be named individually and a
candle will be lit in his or her memory and honor. A devotional will be
brought by Dr. Paul Boatman, Professor of Pastoral Care and Counseling and
Seminary Dean at Lincoln Christian University, during the service. Music
will be coordinated by Tim Searby, Minister of Worship at the church.
Members of the Wellness Ministry Team will also take part in leading the
service. A reception will be held after the service in the Fireside Room
at the Church. The service is open to the public, and everyone is invited
to attend. If anyone would like to have a loved one recognized during the
service, the name of the person and a photo can be sent to
remember@lincolnchristianchurch.org or delivered to the church office
prior to October 22.
