[September 12, 2009]  The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band will open the season for the Lincoln Land Community Concert Association on Thursday. "Not just another band but a complete stage show" is a good description of each performance by this group. The concert will be at Lincoln Christian University's Earl C Hargrove Chapel.

RestaurantSince 1967, the Barbary Coast Dixieland Band has set thousands of toes tapping at the Minnesota State Fair, the Ordway Theatre and over the airwaves of WCCO radio, besides over 50 performances for concert series in the Midwest, plus additional appearances in Arizona, Florida and on a Mississippi paddle-wheel riverboat, as well as in Nagasaki, Japan.

Members of the band are Dick Petersen on banjo, Dick Ramberg on clarinet and piano, Jim "Ten" Bensel on trombone, Tom Andrews on drums and clarinet, Steve Pikal splitting time between bass and trombone, and Russ Peterson playing reeds and brass and also singing.

This season is the 52nd year for the Lincoln Land Community Concert Association.

Judy Awe, campaign secretary for the association, said: "We are very proud of the caliber of talent we can bring to our area and still keep season ticket prices at a reasonable level. The continued support of our membership allows us to offer four performances locally. An exciting agreement with two other central Illinois concert associations will allow us to attend full-season concerts in Pekin and Pontiac with the price of a season membership."

The prices for season membership are $40 for adults, $20 for students and $85 for a family membership, which includes two adults and children living at home.

For more information, contact Judy Awe by mail at 123 Crestwood Drive, or phone her at 217-732-4758.
