Lincoln Police Department reports for Monday, Sept. 21 Accident
on Sept. 15 at 3:58 p.m.; North Logan Street at Peoria Street
--Winston J.E. Bell, 17-year-old male, Mason City; 1999 Chrysler

--Arturo Carrillo, 53-year-old male, Lincoln; 2006 Harley
Davidson XI Series
Carrillo was traveling south in the 500 block of North Logan
Street. Bell was traveling west on Peoria Street between North
Sangamon and Logan and entered the intersection of Logan and Peoria.
In order to avoid colliding with Bell, Carrillo laid his motorcycle
down on the road, causing him to slide into the intersection. No
contact was made between Bell and Carrillo. Bell fled the scene.
Carrillo said he had to crash his motorcycle to the ground to
avoid a collision.
Witnesses said that Bell was traveling at a high rate of speed
when he entered the intersection, and they didn't believe he stopped
for the stop sign on Peoria Street at Logan.
Bell was eventually found. He said he was in a hurry when he
entered the intersection. He said he stopped for the stop sign and
did not see Carrillo coming. He entered the intersection and heard a
screeching sound. He saw Carrillo crash to the ground and panicked,
leaving the scene.

Beights said she was driving west on Woodlawn Road when she was
distracted by looking at a vehicle that pulled in to a business
location beside Woodlawn Road. Beights said that when she looked
back at the road in front of her vehicle, she ran into the rear of
Russell. Beights was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed
to avoid an accident.
Russell said she was driving west on Woodlawn Road when her
vehicle was struck from behind by Beights. Russell said that when
her vehicle was struck, it was pushed into the rear of Radespiel's.
Russell complained of neck pain and was transported by Logan County
Paramedics to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Radespiel said he was driving west on Woodlawn Road when his
vehicle was struck from behind by Russell. Radespiel also complained
of neck pain, and he was transported by Logan County Paramedics to
St John's Hospital.
A passenger in Radespiel's vehicle complained of a headache due
to the accident. The passenger had a relative transport her to the
hospital.

Accident on Sept. 18 at 4:05 p.m.; Lincoln Parkway, 65 feet
north of Woodlawn Road

--Thomas K. Leesman, 54-year-old male, Lincoln; 1990 Harley
Davidson FXS Series
Witness 1 said he was facing east on Woodlawn Road, waiting to
turn left and travel north on Lincoln Parkway. He said he saw
Leesman travel north through the intersection of Woodlawn and
Lincoln Parkway. The witness said a dark blue pickup truck was
traveling west on Woodlawn Road, turned right and began traveling
north on Lincoln Parkway. He said the unknown driver switched lanes
from the outside lane to the inside lane and forced Leesman onto the
raised median. The witness said Leesman was ejected from the
motorcycle, the bike rolled several times and stopped on its side.
The witness said the unknown driver did not stop and continued
traveling north on Lincoln Parkway.

Witness 2 said she was traveling south on Lincoln Parkway when
she saw a dark blue pickup switch lanes from the outside northbound
lane to the inside northbound lane of Lincoln Parkway. She said
Leesman had to swerve to avoid being struck by the unknown driver.
She said Leesman went up on the raised median and was ejected from
the motorcycle. She said the unknown driver did not stop and
continued to travel north on Lincoln Parkway.
Witness 3 was facing north on Lincoln Parkway, waiting to turn
left and travel west on Woodlawn Road. She said she saw Leesman
travel north through the intersection of Lincoln Parkway and
Woodlawn Road. She said that a blue pickup truck, which she thought
was a Ford, was traveling west on Woodlawn Road, made a right turn
onto Lincoln Parkway and traveled north. She said that the unknown
driver went to change lanes from the outside lane to the inside
lane, but Leesman was in the inside lane and had to swerve to the
left to avoid being hit. The witness said Leesman was ejected from
the motorcycle when it struck the raised median.
Leesman was transported by Logan County Paramedics to St John's
Hospital. The unknown driver couldn't be located.
