part two
Accident occurred April 5 at 3:04 p.m. at Lincoln Land
Communications on North Kickapoo
- Wambaya Subayi, Georgette K, 28-year-old female, Lincoln;
1993 Cadillac DeVille
For the second time in one day a vehicle was reported as having
crashed into a building in Lincoln. (The previous incident, listed
in the police reports
yesterday, was at 8:54 a.m. at Discount Tobacco on Woodlawn
Road.)
Wambaya Subayi reported that her car was having brake problems.
When she turned into the driveway of Lincoln Land Communications,
the car somehow accelerated and crashed into the atrium of the
building.
A witness reported coming out of the building, seeing Subayi's
vehicle headed toward the door, and having to run to escape injury.
Subayi was driving with only a learner's permit, and her
passenger had a suspended license. Therefore, Subayi was ticketed
for no valid driver's license and operating a vehicle with defective
brakes.
Collision at Third and South Washington
Accident occurred on April 6 at 3:04 p.m.

Maestas, Holly E.,
26-year-old female, Lincoln; 2008 Toyota Tundra

Williams, Charles F., 60-year-old male,
Lincoln; 2003 Chevrolet S10 extended cab
Maestas was eastbound on Third Street and failed to stop at the
intersection of Third and Washington. Williams was northbound on
Washington and had the right of way through the intersection. When
Maestas failed to stop, Williams struck her vehicle. Maestas was
ticketed for failure to yield at an intersection
Sideswiping semis on Keokuk
Accident occurred on April 5 at 11 a.m.

49-year-old male, Miami, Fla.; 2003 Freightliner semi

Hazard, Arthur A., 44-year-old male,
St. Louis, Mo.; 2005 Freightliner semi
Both semis were westbound on Keokuk, approaching Union. Hazard
was on the inside lane, with Salas on the outside. Salas crossed the
centerline and sideswiped Hazard.
Salas told police that he could not explain what happened. He was
ticketed on lane usage violations.

Struck car rolls away at Thorntons
Accident occurred April 5 at 11:25 a.m. in the Thorntons parking
lot on Keokuk.

Merreighn, Kristena
D., 19-year-old female; Lincoln; 2000 Ford Contour SE

Carter, Billy J., 54-year-old male,
Elkhart; 2005 Chevrolet Malibu LS
Merreighn was parked in the Thorntons parking lot on the west
side, near the building, facing north. Carter was parked behind
Merreighn, but facing south.
Merreighn was in her car and backing up to leave her spot when
she struck the tail end of the Carter vehicle, which was unoccupied.
The Carter vehicle then proceeded to roll across the parking lot
southward, hitting another curb as well as a fence.
Merreighn left the scene, but was later located and arrested.
Merreighn is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with
vehicle damage, as well as operating a vehicle with no valid
insurance.

N., 26-year-old female, Lincoln; arrested April 7 at College and
Eighth on Class C charge of possession of cannabis less than 2.5
grams. Evidence taken recorded on the citation as cannabis.

DiToro, Michael
A., 28-year-old male, Lincoln; arrested April 7 on Sunset Drive
in Lincoln on Class A charge of domestic battery and Class A
charge of interfering with reporting domestic battery.

Schriber, Clint D., 30-year-old male,
Lincoln; arrested April 7 at Broadway and Kickapoo on Class A
charge of theft and Class 3 charge of forgery.
Logan County Sheriff's Department reports for Thursday, April 8

Daringer, Kevin
M., 23-year-old male, Lincoln; arrested April 7 at the Logan
County Safety Complex on a Logan County warrant for failure to
appear. Bond was set at $250 cash.

Leith, Michael D., 30-year-old male,
Atlanta; arrested April 7 at his residence on one Macon County
warrant of failure to appear on charge of possession of a
controlled substance, and two additional Logan County warrants
of failure to appear. Bonds were set at $10,000, $3,000 and
$3,000, respectively, all at 10 percent.

presumed innocent until charges are proven in a court of law.
