[April 20, 2010]  According to Recalls.org, a nonprofit organization, the following recalls were issued by various federal and state agencies during the week ending April 10:

BABY BOOKS 

Gund is recalling Gund Baby Paperboard Books sold nationwide and in Canada from January 2009 to March 2010. The styrofoam used to fill the book binding can detach, posing a choking/aspiration hazard. 

This recall involves three miniature children's paperboard books with plastic handles designed as baby rattles. They include "Animals" (item number 059174), "Numbers" (item number 059175) and "Colors" (item number 059176). The books were also sold as a three-book set (item number 059173). The name "Gund" and the item number are located on the back of the books.

ROMAN SHADES 

Oriental Furniture is recalling Roman Shades and Roll-Up Blinds sold nationwide from March 2009 to December 2009. Strangulations can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the blind. 

This recall involves all styles and sizes of Roman shades and roll-up blinds sold by Oriental Furniture. "Oriental Furniture" is printed on the packaging. CHESTS AND TABLES 

Hammary Furniture Co. is recalling Decorative Wood Chests and Tables sold nationwide from November 2001 to November 2009. The surface coating paint on the furniture could contain excessive levels of lead. 

This recall includes several styles of decorative wooden chests and tables. The model number, style and average price can be found at www.recalls.org

WOMEN'S PEACOATS 

Foria International Inc. is recalling Women's Peacoats sold at Bass Pro Shops nationwide from October 2009 to January 2010. The peacoats fail to meet the federal flammability standard for wearing apparel and pose a risk of burn injury. 

This recall involves women's peacoats that are double-breasted and have long sleeves. They are made from 100 percent cotton fleece in large blue and white plaid print. "Authentic" is printed on the label at the center back neckline of the garments. 

Consumers should return the coats to Foria International for a full refund of retail price including shipping. Foria International address is 18689 Arenth Avenue, City of Industry, CA 91748.

BICYCLE FORKS 

Civia Cycles is recalling Hyland Bicycles and Carbon Bicycle Forks sold nationwide from April 2008 to February 2010. The bicycle fork can crack or break, posing a fall hazard. 

This recall involves all Civia Hyland bicycles sold with original equipment carbon fiber forks and all Civia Carbon forks sold as aftermarket products. The forks are black and have the word "Civia" forged into the fork dropout. 

Consumers should contact an authorized Civia Cycles dealer for a free replacement fork.

HOODED JACKETS 

5 Star Apparel LLC is recalling Mecca Children's Hooded Jackets with Drawstrings sold nationwide from April 2008 to December 2009. The jackets have drawstrings through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard.

Consumers should remove the drawstring immediately, cut the drawstring or return the jacket to the store where purchased for a full refund.
