This April 8 file photo shows Dallas Stars' Mike Modano (9) breaking away as Anaheim Ducks' Dan Sexton (42) gives chase during an NHL hockey game in Dallas. Mike Modano wanted to prove there's still a spot for him in the NHL. The Detroit Red Wings are giving him a chance, agreeing Thursday to terms on a one-year contract.
