as director of admissions for Lincoln College-Normal. In this role,

When announcing the appointment, Dr. A. Gigi Fansler, executive vice
president at LCN, said: "Monica possesses an extensive background in
higher education recruitment, including working with a wide variety
of student populations. Coupled with her vast experience on
diversity initiatives, co-institutional programs and corporate
recruiting, she immediately stood out as an ideal candidate. We feel
confident she will contribute greatly to the leadership team and
help further Lincoln College's desire to expand its recruitment
processes." Prior to this post, Ms. Fortune held a variety of
roles related to recruiting, including positions as university
talent acquisition manager at Baker Hughes in Houston, associate
director of MBA admissions and diversity at University of Texas at
Austin, and associate director of undergraduate education at
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
In addition to her role at Lincoln College-Normal, she is active
in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
When asked what thrilled her the most -- being able to move to a
small, liberal arts college or just moving back to central Illinois,
she responded:
"Well, that's a tough one. On the one hand, a great education
changes lives, and my goal is to help provide opportunities to
students. It's thrilling to be a part of the process, as we help
students recognize this unique and amazing academic experience."

Then, after pausing for a moment she added, "But overall, it's
really great to reconnect with so many of my friends and family
members.
"Bloomington-Normal is a thriving community. I guess I don't have
to choose because I get to experience both!"
