City announces art and balloon fest winners

[August 25, 2010]  Tuesday evening the winners' names in this year's city-sponsored giveaways for the balloon festival were drawn out by the 10 city alderman.

The grand-prize winner will receive:

  • A balloon ride on festival weekend (weather permitting, as determined by pilot).

  • Two admission wristbands for the Logan County Airport.

  • Two Art & Balloon Festival collector pins.

  • An Art & Balloon Festival T-shirt.

  • Two complimentary passes to The Art of Wine.

Alderwoman Marty Neitzel drew out the name of the grand-prize winner: Shana Leininger.

The first-prize winner will receive:

  • $100 in Art Bucks to spend at the art fair.

  • Two admission wristbands.

  • Two collector pins.

  • A festival T-shirt.

  • Two passes to The Art of Wine.

Water

Alderman Tom O'Donohue drew out the name of the first-prize winner: Bethany Dzekunskas.

Two second-prize winners will receive:

  • $50 in Art Bucks to spend at the art fair.

  • Two admission wristbands.

  • Two collector pins.

  • A festival T-shirt.

  • One pass to The Art of Wine.

Alderman David Armbrust drew out the initial name for a second-prize winner: Amy Kenney.

Alderman David Wilmert drew out the name for another second-prize winner: Linda Wilson.

Four third-prize winners will receive:

  • Two admission wristbands.

  • A collector pin.

  • A festival T-shirt.

  • One pass to The Art of Wine.

Alderwoman Stacy Bacon drew out the name of the first third-prize winner: Teri Baker.

Alderwoman Melody Anderson drew out the name of the second third-prize winner: Jennifer Pratter.

Alderwoman Kathy Horn drew out the name of the third third-prize winner: Erin Varner.

Alderwoman Joni Tibbs drew out the name of the final third-prize winner: Kelly Ferreira.

New this year, there are two special prizes just for kids:

  • Special Wally the clownfish balloon prize package, including an official Wally hat.

  • Two admission wristbands.

  • A collector pin.

  • A festival T-shirt.

For the kids' prizes, Alderman Buzz Busby drew out the name of Mattea McFadden, and Alderman Jeff Hoinacki completed the round by drawing the name of Justin Hatfield.

All of the contest winners, according to the rules of the drawing, are residents of the city of Lincoln.

Prizes may be claimed at the city clerk's office at City Hall.
