[December 03, 2010]  As of Dec 2, the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle collection total is $6,210.30. That represents 10.3 percent of the goal of $60,000, with 19 days of bell ringing left until the close of the campaign on Christmas Eve.

The groups that have raised the most for Red Kettle campaign are as follows:

The Cell Youth Group

$407.37

First Baptist Church

$252.22

Frontier Insurance

$185.96

4-H Four Corner Clovers

$177.24

Lions Club

$138.15

Still on deck are several groups whose proverbial hats have been thrown into the ring for the 2010 Red Kettle Club Challenge, including Kiwanis, Lincoln Rotary, Trinity Episcopal, Open Arms Christian Fellowship, Zonta, 4-H Wide Awake, the Leah-Mary First United Methodist Circle and the Young United Methodist Men.

The individual bell ringer with the highest single kettle collection total to date is Joe Funk with $250.05, followed by Jerry and Karen Birdwell with $228.08, Miss Logan County with $225.44, Dr. Carroll Richards with $202.38 and Michael Mikulski of Lincoln Christian University with $177.69, a first-time effort!

The individual bell ringer with the most hours logged to date is Steve Papesch, with 21 hours at a kettle already this season.

Last year's champion team was the Kroger's employee team.

There is still a need for many bell ringers to step up and man a kettle. Each hour that a kettle is manned represents another family that will be helped in 2011.

The Salvation Army has many, many openings to ring the bell, especially on weekdays.
