[December 09, 2010]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Authorities say there are still no suspects in random shootings two months ago that terrorized residents along the Illinois-Indiana state line.

Both the Will County Sheriff's office and the Lake County Sheriff's office in Indiana tell The Associated Press the trail has gone cold in the Oct. 5 shootings that left one dead and two injured. The case gained nationwide attention after the gunman asked one victim about honeybees.

Authorities falsely accused police officer Brian Dorian of being the gunman in October. They ruled him out as a suspect days later.

Lake County Sheriff Roy Dominguez says his officers have pursued over 600 leads to no avail. Both he and Will County Sheriff's spokesman Ken Kaupas say the case remains a top priority.
