This Sunday, Dec. 12, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service, over 180
new coats will be presented for distribution in the 21st year of the
program. The St. John Youth Group will have a processional at the
start of the service to model some of the coats and will carry the
rest of them to present to the Community Action Partnership
representatives.
The
Mount Pulaski landscape waste final pickup date is Dec. 17.
Leaf pickup is scheduled Monday, Dec. 13, and the last day to take
landscape waste to the sewage treatment plant is Friday, Dec. 17,
prior to 3 p.m. The sewage treatment plant will then be closed for
the season.
Emma Nobbe,
eighth-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, has been selected
as a ZLS November Student of the Month. Emma has been on the high
honor roll, and her school activities include cheerleading, track
and field, speech team, choir, choir chimes, spelling bee and the
Illinois History Fair. She is a member of Jefferson Street Christian
Church. Her church and community activities include youth group, VBS
crew helper, choir, church library volunteer, Together for Lincoln,
talent show, jazz dance, guitar, piano, theater productions and CIY
youth conference. Emma particularly enjoys the fun and challenge of
learning new moves in jazz dance, reading, climbing trees and music.
Emma's parents are Dr. Todd and Chris Nobbe of Lincoln.
Tori Hoban,
an eighth-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, has been
selected as a ZLS November Student of the Month. Tori has been on
the high honor roll, and her school activities include volleyball,
choir chimes, band and spelling bee. Tori is a member of Zion
Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Her church and community activities
include youth group, VBS, youth conference, YMCA Volleyball Camp and
YMCA Summer Counselor in Training Camp. Tori enjoys reading books,
listening to music, baling hay with her family and spending time
with friends. Tori's parents are Nate and Krista Miller of New
Holland and Tom and Kristi Hoban of Prescott, Ariz.

The
Lincoln Youth Wrestling Team competed in its own Lincoln
Railer Rumble youth wrestling tournament Sunday, Dec. 5, at Lincoln
Community High School, with more than 400 wrestlers from all over
central Illinois. The team's results were as follows:

6 and under age division -- Dustin
Meacham took first place; Chase McCormick and Billie Merreighn
got second place; Ryan O'Donoghue, Chase Reed and Tyler Shaner
took third place; and Malikye Trussel and Isaiah Yoakum got
fourth place.

7- and 8-year-olds
-- Alex Bogdanic, Austin O'Donoghue, Braydon Saylor and Cade
Tanner all came in first place; Collin Cogdill and Nolan Yates
got second place; Bryton Fuchs, Tony Gandolfi, Terrance Hyde,
J.R. Lynn and Tyler Sprague took third place; and Ikaika
Carvalho, John Grover, Jack Harmon, David Hurley, Tyler Mason,
Andre Mcadams, Kaleb Painter, Devyn Snow and Roux Starr were
fourth-place finishers.

10-year-olds -- Tyler Werth came in second; Taylon Mason and
Treavor Bree were third; and Kade Shmidt, Alexander Work and
Dalton Westcott took fourth.

11- and
12-year-olds -- Ethan Moore and Noah Watts both took second;
Conner Briggs, Kolton Johner and Scott Lessen all got fourth;
and Austin Dennison was fifth.

13- and 14-year-olds -- Preston Marten
was fourth.
The team will head to Springfield on Sunday, Dec. 12, to compete
in the Springfield Capitol Classic at Lanphier High School.
