[December 18, 2010] CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago firefighters have rescued a coyote that had become trapped on a slab of ice floating in Lake Michigan.
Firefighters say they got a call about the chilly coyote at about 9:30 a.m. Friday.
The animal was crouched on a patch of ice drifting about a quarter-mile from shore on the city's North Side.
Forecasters say the lake's water temperature was in the 30s.
With a helicopter hovering overhead, crews on a boat pulled the animal out of the water.
There's no immediate word of its condition.
Media reports say firefighters have named the animal Holly.
