[December 29, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Air, road and rail travelers in the Northeast are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel as snow cleanup progresses and airlines try to catch up on backlogs.

Most flights at New Jersey's Newark Liberty Airport are taking off and landing as scheduled Wednesday. Continental Airlines says on its website that its hub there is nearly normal but some cancellations and delays remain.

Authorities are reporting general delays at LaGuardia and Kennedy airports. Airlines are still catching up on hundreds of flights grounded since the weekend snowstorm.

Unplowed streets are still hampering bus service in New York, where residents have complained about the pace of the cleanup.

Commuter and subway train service in the New York area is still having problems but slowly improving. Most commuter trains serving New Jersey appear to be running.
