Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce invites students to vote for favorite business

[February 02, 2010]  Students at Lincoln colleges, along with staff and parents, are encouraged to vote for their favorite businesses in the student welcome section of www.lincolnillinois.com, the newly redesigned Web site for the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

Many of the chamber businesses offer discounts and specials to college students, staff and parents when they patronize member businesses. In return the chamber wanted to recognize outstanding customer services when given. In partnership with Lincoln Daily News, the chamber created the "This Place Rocks" traveling trophy.

The November "This Place Rocks" winner was Lincoln Best Western and the December winner was Qik-n-EZ.

This is part of the "Student Welcome Campaign," a relatively new initiative developed by the chamber's education committee early in the fall. Many chamber businesses took advantage of this free program to help encourage students and staff to shop locally and to engage these young, bright individuals in the community.

The chamber has invited members to attend the next committee meeting, on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Christian University, to help plan the next phase of this campaign. Members' opinions and suggestions are valued, and now is the perfect time for members to let the chamber know where they would like to see this program go. Please RSVP to the chamber office, 217-735-2385, if you are interested in joining the meeting or finding out more information about the welcome campaign.

For businesses to participate in this free program, they must be chamber members in good standing and opt in by calling or by e-mailing the chamber office at chamber@lincolnillinois.com.
