Bowling a perfect game is in the family blood

[February 09, 2010]  Brandon Brawdy turned 15 on Jan. 19. On Jan. 30 the young man marked his birthday with a perfect 300 game at Logan Lanes. At 15 Brandon became the youngest young man in Logan County to bowl a perfect score, but the occurrence, although remarkable for someone his age, isn't something that is rare to the Brawdy family.

HardwareAshley O'Neill, the youngest female bowler in the county to roll a perfect game, is a cousin. Brandon's father, Ron, bowled a 300 in 2005. To complete the family chain of perfection, Brandon's grandfather Willie carries the distinction of being the oldest bowler in Logan County to leave not a pin standing for a perfect game.

Brandon's father was at the Saturday league play when his son bowled the 300 and admitted he had to go into the cafeteria to get a cup of coffee when it became obvious his son had a chance at bowling perfection. "I kept looking around the corner," Ron admitted.

Ron, knowing the pressure, said Brandon said he wasn't nervous until his last ball. And when he threw a strike, the entire bowling alley let out a cheer.

Brandon's sister Michelle also witnessed her brother's feat, as she was bowling in another lane near her brother.

Sean Taylor, an owner of Logan Lanes, said that Brandon having an opportunity at 300 is rare in someone that age, let alone actually achieving the milestone. But the young man's scores show he didn't just have one lucky game. For the series, Brandon bowled 223, 300 and 208 for a 731.
