Greinke was one of about 20 players who showed up Friday as the Royals opened spring training with a voluntary, five-day minicamp in Surprise, Ariz.
Also in camp are closer Joakim Soria, who had 30 saves for Kansas City last year, and first baseman Billy Butler, who had 51 doubles and 93 RBIs to go with his team-best .301 average.
Greinke earned the American League Cy Young Award last year with a best-in-the-majors 2.16 ERA. He finished 16-8 with 242 strikeouts.
Several new Royals are also taking part in the minicamp. They include second baseman Chris Getz and third baseman-outfielder Josh Fields, who were acquired in a trade with the White Sox for Mark Teahen.
