Judy Hamrick has an upbeat and
kind attitude, but she's also very proficient at her job.
That's what prompted a co-worker to nominate her for employee of the
month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

"Judy is a great employee and helps fulfill all three goals for ALMH. Judy makes ALMH a great place to work because of her positive
attitude and sweet spirit around her co-workers," says Bev Kurka, a
co-worker who nominated Judy for the honor. "Judy also produces
great results with her attention to detail. She is someone you can
always count on to do her best and to get the job done and get it
done with a smile."
And while she works in medical records, Hamrick is even credited
with helping to create great patient experiences at ALMH by always
lending a helping hand to patients and families, giving directions,
opening doors, smiling, and giving patients a pat on the back.
She has been a scanning clerk for emergency department charts in
the medical records department since Dec. 1, 2004. She transferred
to ALMH from Koke Mill, another Memorial Medical System affiliate.
"I LOVE working here," Hamrick says of her job at ALMH. "When I
walk through these doors I know I'm coming to work, but when I see
my co-workers in other departments I can feel that they are here to
really make a difference, and to see how they look at their patients
with such compassion really makes your heart sing."
To be a medical records clerk, she has taken computer classes and
received on-the-job training. She enjoys the day-to-day work of her
position and recommends as many computer classes as possible for
someone who is interested in working in medical records, because the
field is becoming more computerized than ever.

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A
different employee is honored each month for their commitment to
creating great patient experiences, getting great results and making
ALMH a great place to work.
"I know that I could be at my desk and my family could come in
and my not knowing it, they would be well taken care of. ... What
more could you ask for?" Judy says.
