LA mayor making appearance on 'All My Children'

[February 17, 2010]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is moving from the soap box to a soap opera.

The mayor's cameo on the ABC daytime drama "All My Children" is scheduled to air Wednesday. ABC says the mayor, playing himself, will meet Susan Lucci's character, Erica Kane, at a hot spot.

Villaraigosa filmed the scene last month to welcome the show, which moved production from New York to Los Angeles.

He's not the first L.A. mayor to go Hollywood. Sam Yorty, Tom Bradley and Richard Riordan all made guest appearances on TV shows.
