[February 04, 2010]  COVINGTON, La. (AP) -- A Louisiana father and his 12-year-old daughter were arrested for an alleged practical joke that startled motorists on an interstate highway:

The father allegedly drove his pickup truck with the girl sitting in the passenger seat -- bound and gagged with duct tape.

Authorities booked 45-year-old Tim Williams of Lacombe with criminal mischief and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was released on bond.

His daughter was cited for criminal mischief and released to her uncle.

Motorists called authorities Wednesday after seeing the phony kidnapping in progress. Several motorists boxed in Williams' moving pickup on Interstate 12 near Covington until police caught up with them.

A sheriff's spokesman didn't know if Williams has a lawyer.
