[February 04, 2010]  Below is a copy of public questions on the ballot in the Feb. 2 primary:

PUBLIC QUESTIONS

ATLANTA PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT

Shall the limiting rate under the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law for the Atlanta Public Library District, Logan County, Illinois, be increased by an additional amount equal to .085% above the limiting rate for levy year 2009 and be equal to .26702% of the equalized assessed value of the taxable property therein for levy year 2010?

Supplemental Information

(1) The approximate amount of taxes extendable at the most recently extended limiting rate is $65,660, and the approximate amount of taxes extendable if the proposition is approved is $96,323.

(2) For the 2010 levy year the approximate amount of the additional tax extendable against property containing a single family residence and having a fair market value at the time of the referendum of $100,000 is estimated to be $28.33.

(3) If the proposition is approved, the aggregate extension for 2010 will be determined by the limiting rate set forth in the proposition, rather than the otherwise applicable limiting rate calculated under the provisions of the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (commonly known as the Property Tax Cap Law).

REFERENDUM TO INCREASE THE EXTENSION LIMITATION FOR LAWNDALE LIGHT DISTRICT

Shall the extension limitation under the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law for Lawndale Light District, Logan County, Illinois, be increased from the lesser of 5% or the percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index over the prior levy year to 105.6% per year for 2010?

(1) For the 2010 levy year the approximate amount of the additional tax extendable against property containing a single family residence and having a fair market value at the time of the referendum of $100,000, without consideration for any exemptions, is estimated to be $87.98.
