After the loss, Lincoln coach Kirk Whiteman talked about his team's
performance: "We had three big goals going into the game: 1. Jump
to the ball defensively; 2. Slide under screens defensively; and 3.
Play at different speeds on offense so we could make good decisions.
We failed with No. 1 because we did a poor job on help-side defense;
we failed with No. 3 because we had 21 turnovers; and No. 2 hurts us
because ICC went 6-13 from the 3-point line with two guys (making)
3s that haven't been shooting them all year long.
"ICC did a good job of switching defense, and we did a poor job
of handling their pressure. We had 15 turnovers between our guards,
which obviously hurt us.
"We were able to tie the game at 65 but failed to score a basket
until the five-second mark. The Washington kid went 6-6 and ICC went
10-10 from the foul line the last three minutes of the game. We shot
16-28, and we can't do that anymore!"
Chris Ware and Kenyon Smith led Lincoln with 14 points each.
Lincoln drops to 13-5 (3-1). ICC moves to 12-7 (5-0).
Lincoln will play on the road this weekend at Lincoln Land and
open up the Lincoln Center versus Shawnee on Wednesday.
