(Originally posted Monday afternoon)

[February 04, 2010]  On Sunday, Lincoln police officers were dispatched to the area of 1275 Woodlawn Road in reference to a subject there who was wanted on warrants from Macon County. At 4:39 p.m. officers arrived on scene and confronted the subject, who was later identified as Nathan Williams.

HardwareWilliams fled from officers and ran to the Redwood Motel, 725 Hickox Drive. He then climbed onto the roof of the hotel, then onto some power lines located near the hotel roof. Williams made his way to a utility pole, where he remained for approximately 90 minutes. AmerenCILCO was called to the scene to cut the power to the lines.

Lincoln police officers were able to convince Williams to surrender at 6:25 p.m., at which time the Lincoln Fire Department extended a bucket from their fire truck just under Williams' feet. Williams entered the bucket and was lowered to authorities.

He was taken into custody and transported to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, where he was evaluated, released and then transported to Macon County Jail to face the warrant charges.
