Wednesday afternoon, Mike Eads, administrator at St. Clara's Manor
in Lincoln, handed over the keys and the property at 503 N. Adams to
Habitat for Humanity of Logan County. Eads said the home being
donated to Habitat was the right thing to do, and he even personally
offered to help in the rehab of the house, which should begin this
fall.
Co-chairs of this project will be Steve Allen and Mike Kubat of
the Habitat board.
Allen will also head up the work crews for the project.
The new homeowner has already been approved, and according to Tonita Reifsteck, Brandy Mullenbach has already fulfilled her hours
of service required to be eligible for a Habitat home.
Allen, who is with the Logan County Housing Authority, said it is
hoped the home will be finished by the spring of 2011.
Allen said that Habitat is also accepting applications from area
residents who want to be considered for a Habitat home. Anyone
interested can visit his office at 1028 N. College to pick up an
application or they can call 732-7776.
Habitat member George Dahmm pointed out that the Habitat produce location at 915 Woodlawn Road would have sweet corn for sale
beginning Friday, with the very popular Calhoun peaches
just a few weeks away.
Proceeds from the produce stand go to fund Habitat projects.
