[July 07, 2010]  NEW YORK (AP) -- The Rolling Stone writer whose story helped bring down Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who was fired from his job as commander of the Afghanistan war, has a book deal.

HardwareLittle, Brown and Company announced Tuesday that Michael Hastings is working on a book about the war.

The publisher says the book will provide an "unfiltered look" at the war and those who are fighting it. No release date has been set. The book currently is untitled.

Hastings' Rolling Stone article featured disparaging remarks made by McChrystal and his aides about President Barack Obama and others in the administration. Widely criticized for his comments, McChrystal was replaced as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan by Gen. David Petraeus (peh-TRAY'-uhs).
