Gov. Pat Quinn has signed legislation to better
protect bicyclists on the roadways. The legislation was signed Monday at Campbell Street Bicycle Shop in northwest suburban
Arlington Heights.
Ed Barsotti, executive director of the League of Illinois
Bicyclists, said the bill "will help both motorists and
bicyclists do their parts in sharing our roadways safely."
According to the group, the bill will establish new
penalties for motorists who endanger bicyclists on the road.
New "Share the Road" Illinois license plates were also announced.
