Saturday morning the annual early morning Fourth of July block party in Starkey Acres subdivision honored Lincoln's newest citizen, Njeri Bere.
As part of their tribute to her, Bere was made grand marshal of the walking parade and received a special gift from Lincoln's mayor, Keith Snyder.

Mayor Snyder and Bere are both on the faculty of Lincoln Christian University.  Here the mayor offers personal congratulations to Bere.

Snyder presents Bere with a picture book about Lincoln's namesake, which he inscribed with congratulations from the mayor.

Bere spoke briefly, thanking everyone for making her feel so welcome.
