Cupcakes with the fair queen this week

[July 07, 2010]  This week, Logan County Fair Queen Emily Berglin is raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital plus our local food pantry. All week you can help fill the queen's car with items for the food pantry. Please take donations of nonperishable items to Jim Xamis Ford Lincoln Mercury.

On Saturday, food pantry donations will be accepted at the Logan County Fairgrounds from 9 to 11 a.m. during "Cupcakes with the Queen."

This week, 50-50 raffle tickets are being sold by Queen Emily from 9 to 11 a.m. at the following locations:

• Wednesday -- Kroger's

• Thursday -- Big R

• Friday -- Walmart

• Saturday -- Logan County Fairgrounds, Cupcakes with the Queen event, 9-11 a.m.

Participating children will receive a cupcake and a drink, a picture frame to decorate, a free photo taken with the queen, a picture to color, and word games to play.

There will be a silent auction for the dress the Logan County Fair queen wore during the pig scramble last year.

Participating adults will be asked to share a favorite Logan County Fair memory. The memories will be made into a scrapbook for others to enjoy.
