'The Mosquito Net' wins at Karlovy Vary Film fest

[July 12, 2010]  PRAGUE (AP) -- The Spanish movie "The Mosquito Net" has won the top prize at the 45th International Film Festival in the Czech spa town of Karlovy Vary, or Carlsbad.

The film is directed by Augusti Vila and features Geraldine Chaplin in a silent role. It examines the life of a well-off urban family whose members suffer from various guilt complexes.

The movie was chosen from 12 contenders for the Crystal Globe by the festival's seven-member jury, led by U.S. producer Ron Yerxa.

Saturday's award includes a $30,000 in cash.
