[July 13, 2010]  The Logan County Genealogical & Historical Society will meet Monday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. at 114 N. Chicago St. in downtown Lincoln. David Doolin will give a presentation about the original glass plates that were used as negatives in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The group welcomes visitors.

Dance, dance, dance at the Lincoln Park District. Rest up before you come, because Audra is going to have you dancing like a star. For three mornings in a row you'll get to experience jazz, ballet and clogging. Each dancer will also double as their own choreographer. Let Audra teach you how to apply some new moves to your favorite song. Special shoes are not needed, but please wear something other than socks. Previous experience is not necessary. Families and friends will be invited to a demonstration on the last day.

Teaching this dance class is Audra, the owner of Audra's Studio of Dance, who is also a master graduate of Dance Educators of America. She is also the director of the award-winning Flying Feet Cloggers and Competition Teams. You can't help but notice how much Audra loves to share her craft with young people. If you are 6 or older, join the dancers Wednesday through Friday, July 14-16, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Summer Field Trip Blast -- YMCA staff members will take the children (maximum of 13 children) to the Splashdown water park for a day of fun. The kids will need to bring a sack lunch, proper attire for the trip, sunblock, water bottle and a spare change of clothes for the ride home. This program will meet for pickup and drop-off at the Y Activity Center on Wyatt Avenue. Groups will be going on July 16 and Aug. 6. Call 735-3915 or visit www.lincolnymca.org.
