The children at an anti-drug summer camp had to be sent home after a few days at the camp after finding bats moved into a cabin and a recreational building. Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis says he canceled his agency's camp for this week and next because he didn't want to risk exposing the children to a rabid bat.
The camp is sponsored by the agency's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.
The Times-News of Hendersonville reported Wednesday that the DARE camp was being held for the first time at Camp Pinnacle near Hendersonville in southwest North Carolina.
