[July 15, 2010]  In the almost seven years that Ama Wyles has worked at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, she has had to learn a variety of skills to help her succeed in her department. From copying medical records for doctors and members of the public to creating the schedule for the Care-A-Van, Wyles has mastered several tasks during her time at the hospital.

And now, with the move to the new building approaching, it has become part of her job to aid the medical records department in its goal to create a fully electronic file database. Wyles' nominator recognized her dedication to this project, calling her involvement "so vital that it should not go unrecognized."

"The vast knowledge that she has in knowing what to do with a patient's chart and keeping their records intact is quite amazing," added the nominator.

Computer knowledge has become an important part of her daily work, according to Wyles. She also calls people skills a must, as the public often comes to the department for health history information.

Wyles says that her commitment to hard work stems from her love for her job.

"I enjoy working with the public and with the friends I have made at the hospital over the years," she says.

She also appreciates that her schedule allows her plenty of time to spend with her kids. Wyles considers spending time with her family, including sons Ryan and Alex and fiance Jeremie Lacroix, one of her main hobbies.

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results, and making ALMH a great place to work.
