Senior Legion team takes district title

[July 19, 2010]  Lincoln's Senior Legion baseball team defeated Pontiac 14-4 Saturday night to take the district title and advance to the 4th Division tourney.

Mount Pulaski High graduate Andrew McCarty earned the pitching victory by shutting out the visitors over the last five innings of the game.

(The winning run was scored in the bottom of the eighth with one out.)

Lincoln was led in hitting by Trent Gardner's triple and two singles, Joel Ritchhart's double and two singles, Cory Yeazle's three hits, Bryce Hunsley's double and single, and Jade Leake's two singles.

Lincoln plays Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at the Champaign Centennial High School field versus the winner of the 18th District tourney in Game 2 of the 4th Division American Legion tourney.
