[June 14, 2010]  (AP)  The most active weather would continue to be in the Plains on Monday as a front moved through the area and into the Ohio Valley.

InsuranceThis front would carry significant moisture that would produce areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms from northern Texas through Kentucky and the Ohio Valley. There was a slight chance that these thunderstorms may become severe; thus, residents were advised to monitor local weather conditions.

Farther to the north, more showers were forecast to develop in the northern Plains and upper Midwest.

In the West, a low pressure system would slowly move into the Northwest, gradually putting an end to the heat wave from the past weekend. Temperatures would still rise into the 90s and 100s in the Southwest, however.

The South would continue to bake, with temperatures in the 90s and 100s from Texas through the Southeast Coast and Florida. This current heat wave would likely continue to break records.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s, 80s and some 90s, while the northern Plains would see temperatures in the 70s. The Northwest would rise into the 60s and 70s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Sunday ranged from a low of 27 degrees at Fort Valley, Ariz., to a high of 104 degrees at Laredo, Texas.
