[June 15, 2010]  It seems fitting that when it came time to announce Kathleen Cunningham as the ALMH June Employee of the Month, she couldn't be found standing around the dietary department. She was off delivering a specially requested patient tray, and the group ready to congratulate her on her award was forced to wait.

InsuranceThis commitment to serving each patient's individual needs is what makes Cunningham stand out, said her two nominators.

"She is thorough and always checks to make sure a diet request is appropriate for the patient. She is always pleasant and kind to patients, families and her fellow employees," said her first nominator.

Her second nominator added, "Kathleen makes sure patient trays are complete and does not hesitate when delivering trays to take care of a special request. She is always willing to help her fellow employees with a smile and a cheerful attitude."

Cunningham is a member of the dietary team and holds a sanitation certificate for food preparation. She celebrated her first anniversary at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in March and had worked previously in the dietary department at St. Clara's Manor.

Cunningham encourages others to explore a career in health care because "health care is something that is always going to be needed, she said. It is a safe place in a very unstable work force."

She said that ALMH is the right place for her because she is able to impact people with her job. "I enjoy helping people!" she added.

ALMH employs more than 290 in a wide variety of job functions. A different employee is honored each month for their commitment to creating great patient experiences, getting great results, and making ALMH a great place to work.
