News & Information
Our goal is to provide as much information to our farmers, ranchers, landowners, agribusinesses, non-farm orientated citizens, students and future email subscribers in the quickest, cheapest, and most efficient way. Issuing press releases and regular newsletters fulfill our minimal requirements in publicizing information, but as we have learned over the years, it's not enough. The Logan County E-News will be published periodically and used solely to compliment the other avenues of our information dissemination needs. Subscription is free and the advice is still cheap. We do not discriminate. If you know someone that wants to subscribe, share this E-News with them. If you know someone is not getting their E-News, they should contact our office or check with their Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Email provider and flag the Logan County E-News as "non-spam" or "acceptable". Every time we issue E-News publications, we receive several returned messages due to the security filters your ISP uses.

2009 ACRE Payment Projections by University of Illinois Extension
A very commonly asked question in the office is: “Will there be an ACRE Payment?” I don’t have the answer since the 2009 marketing year will not be completed until August 31, 2010 setting the 2009 National Average Market price. If an ACRE payment is received for 2009 it will be paid after October 1, 2010. So, I am leaving the estimations up to the experts. The University of Illinois issued a very good article on April 28, regarding ACRE Payments

2010 Acreage Certification deadline is JULY 15th
Accurately certifying your acreage and crops is very important for eligibility in our nation’s farm programs. You must certify your acres to receive benefits from programs such as DCP/ACRE Program, Commodity/Marketing Assistance Loans, and Loan Deficiency Payments. Acreage reporting is crucial to maintaining your cropping history for eligibility to participate in the Conservation Reserve Program. *NOTE: CRP participants must certify their acreages even if it is 100% CRP
A few things to remember when you certify:
- Know your planting dates. These dates are required for certification.
- Notify us of any acreage discrepancies to keep you compliant with our programs. Accurate acreage reporting is especially important for ACRE participants.
- Please allow adequate time for your office visit.
Prevented Plant Procedure
2010 planting conditions have been considerably better compared to the previous couple years and we hopefully won’t have to be concerned with prevented planted acreage. If we do, here is a brief refresher on how to correctly file for prevented planted acreage.
When should I apply?
To be considered timely, producers who request prevented planting acreage credit must report the acreage on a FSA-578 form and complete a CCC-576 form, Part B within 15 calendar days after the final planting date established by Risk Management Agency.
What do I need to do?
